Field Trip to Tippah Lake?

Today, we took a picnic lunch/field trip to Tippah Lake. It was far too pretty of a day to spend it all inside doing school work. We did get most of our work done before we left. After roasting hotdogs and making S'mores, the kids played and rode their scooters around.
Our friend, Rachel, and her kids came with us today. She decided to interject a little school into our day. We had the kids collect several different kinds of leaves and then put them into different piles. Rachel knows a lot more about plants and trees than we do and explained things in such a way that the kids wanted to learn more about trees.
Doesn't this look like learning to you? Kirsten found this shell of a locust or a cicada (I can't ever tell the difference).
This picture was taken in our walk around the lake.
Alec gives Carson a ride on his scooter.
Walking/scootering back to our cars. Does this qualify as cross-training? At least it could be called P.E., right?
